Logan Goes Climbing

Logan's first climbing day was to Shelf Road at 5 weeks old. He slept most of the way there and loved the bumpy dirt roads-- the bumpier the better. We climbed at the North Gym, which is a new crag Mark is developing. We brought along the blue bouncy chair. He was pretty happy sitting there, listening to his tunes (the chair plays music) looking at the scenery, and watching us climb. It was kind of cold, so we bundled him up in his snowsuit. It was a little big, but it did the job.

One Month

At one month, we're still figuring things out. Logan sleeps in his swing, which is fine by me. We all get some sleep this way. His digestive system is still developing. He makes a big production out of pooping-- everyone in the room knows when Logan poops. I'm trying to change my diet, cutting out dairy and chocolate and gassy vegetables (I'm amazed how many vegetables are on this list) to see if that helps. One thing he has not had trouble with is eating-- he had that figured out from his first few minutes of life. When he's done, he pulls away with the most satisfied smirk on his face (he doesn't really smile yet-- except in his sleep).

Mark went back to work at 5 weeks. I know we were lucky to have him home that long-- still, it was a little terrifying being left by myself that first day. We're starting to have our own routine, though, and I think we'll get along fine.

Logan Meets Grandma & Grandpa A

Grandma & Grandpa A came to visit for a week and were a huge help. They cooked and cleaned and babysat and helped entertain Mark who was getting cabin fever after 4 weeks at home. We managed to get out for a couple ice hockey games at the Lake, where we took turns babysitting in the lakehouse, some cross country skiing around the yard, a construction project on the barn, and a daytrip to Breckenridge.

Grandma & Grandpa bonding time:

Grandma suggested that perhaps our baby might want a bath more than once in his lifetime. Really? Okay, if you insist. So we gave him his first bath at home. He screamed the whole time so it was a while before he got his second one.

Marshall helped Mark build an extension off the back of the barn to hold all the things the barn is supposed to hold- but can't- since its a climbing gym.

Karen & I dressed Logan up in a cute outfit for his big day out to Breckenridge. I think this is the only time he's ever worn shoes.

We ate at Lucha in Breckenridge and were personally served by chef Andrew himself. We also celebrated Logan's one month birthday with very tasty cupcakes at a bakery in town (thanks Karen!).

Thanks for all your help Grandma & Grandpa A!

Logan Meets Grandpa Z

Logan was so lucky to get to spend a week with his namesake Grandpa Z (or Granddad as my dad calls himself). We had a lot of granddad-grandson bonding time at home. We also made it to the top of the statehouse in Denver, to a Super Bowl party (Logan's first party!), and to the lake for a little ice skating.

My dad's specialty is the Mexican hat dance, which was well tested during my first 6 months as a colicky baby. He's still got it! It worked on Logan every time.

Hanging out with Granddad

We got to see Auntie Kendall and Uncle Andrew while my dad was here too.

And we celebrated Logan's 4 week birthday. This was a pretty great birthday month for Logan-- we celebrated 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks, plus the big 1 month. I ate Logan's cake for him so he could have cake milk.
