My People

Logan got to meet our Zimmerman cousins, Brett & Alec, while we were home in CT for my dad’s funeral. He took to them immediately—he grinned and cooed and couldn’t take his eyes off Brett. We decided it’s because she has a big head like him (and me). “I’ve found my people, mom!”

Whoopi

Logan loves TV. His favorite is Whoopi Goldberg-- he will turn at the sound of her voice. His babysitter tells me he doesn't really like kids shows-- he prefers gossip and world views (Oprah & the View). I guess that goes along with his serious nature. I'd like to think his love of TV is part of his love of lights-- he is also obsessed with light fixtures and windows-- but maybe he's just going to be a TV junkie.

Connecticut

We just returned from a week in CT, where we said goodbye to my dad. He loved seeing Logan—he brought a lot of joy to everyone at a really sad time. Logan got to meet all the aunties and uncles. Here's Aunt Susie singing the Glac-Gloum song… Logan thought she was a little crazy. He's a good judge of character.

Andrew built an impressive waterfall in the backyard. Its full of frogs-- I wonder how they knew to come? Here's his creation:

Gone From My Sight

Gone From My Sight
by Henry Van Dyke

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone"

Gone where?

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"

Baptism

Logan was baptized at my parents' house on May 17th. We had planned to have him baptized in June, but Pastor Kathie volunteered to baptize Logan at our home so my dad could be there. Logan wore the gown that Will, Kendall, Andrew, and I all wore. Logan was in full teething mode and cried through a lot of the ceremony so I was pretty happy we were at home. He was, however, quiet through the actual baptism. Must have been the Holy Spirit.

Guys, why am I wearing a dress?

Four Months

At four months, Logan weighs 14 lbs 13 oz and is 75th percentile for height and head size, 70th for weight. He’s thinned out a bit since his very chubby 3 month old days. He is over his colic, and has been a much happier baby recently. He seems to say “hi”— we’re pretty sure he knows what it means, because he says it at the right time. He is starting to laugh now-- he thinks its very fun to be rolled from side to side on his back. He loves his peacock toy and his jumperoo. He rolls from tummy to back once in while, but still not very often. His nicknames are Bug and Mr. Logan.

Go Rockies

Logan is a big Rockies fan. He's been to 2 games, and he was even awake for part of one of them. Mom is also a big Rockies fan now that Logan gives her an excuse to leave early.
