Kenny's house

Kenny bought a house! Its a super cute log cabin, and Logan has his own room there.  The best part is its 3 minutes away!
Celebrating with champagne (which I've had for probably 10 years... I'm afraid this one was not one of those that gets better with age)

More family

We lucked out with lots of family time this summer.  Here's a quick recap in pictures:
My mom came in for the house closing and spent a few days with us.  Here she is entertaining Axel & Logan with readings of the Hungry Caterpillar.

Cousin band.  Logan on piano, Axel on tambourine, Lucas on guitar.  At some point someone found the harmonica and then it was all over.

Logan loves to be pulled down the little hill out back in his wagon.  Its our country-style amusement park ride.  You have to turn at the end of the hill to avoid running into the fence.  We did it successfully with one or two boys in the wagon, but then we decided to load up all three.    It ended in a crying pile of boys and wagon parts.  No one was hurt though... it was really kind of funny.

Hike to Mt... something.  On the way to Mt Evans.

Books

This is how Logan sleeps now.  When I put him in bed, he points to his bookshelf and says "book, book, book."  I bring him books one by one and eventually he is satisfied and says good night.  Usually we hear some thunks a little while later as he tosses them out of his bed... but sometimes he just falls asleep on top of the pile.

Cousins!

Mike & Janelle have been in Colorado much of the summer so we've gotten in some good cousin time.  I wish all the cousins lived closer-- its so fun to have them around.  We spent a day out in Aspen, and then got a few more days together here at our house full of climbing in the barn, wiffle ball games, and xtreme wagon rides.  Logan loves his cousins, and they tolerate him pretty well, despite the fact that he breaks their train tracks.

These photos refuse to go in the right order.  I give up.
This is what it would be like to have 3... and this is why people get minivans!  Lucas got the raw end of the deal smashed between the carseats, but he was very nice about it.

Hiking in Aspen.  We saw a cool waterfall, hiked through an icy canyon, and Lucas did a cliff jump into freezing water.  Axel was ready just in case it looked like fun, but he thought better of it.

Playing in the car, Logan's favorite place.

Mountain goats on our hike up to Mt Evans

Marmot on the hike up Mt Evans.  Logan was a master at spotting these guys.  Every time he saw one, he'd yell "kitty cat!"  Close enough.

The summit!

Lucas walked the whole way-- his first 14-er!

Kara comes to visit

My best buddy from high school, Kara, came to visit twice this summer. She had a wedding and all the wedding-related events to go to, so we lucked out and got to see her a couple times. Its great to have her here because she cooks us dinner and plays with Logan and entertains us with stories of her world travels. What more can you ask? We did a cool hike to St. Mary's glacier-- I like that we're still discovering cool places we've never been pretty close by.

Close up-- this was not really that fun and Mark got pretty wet and dirty, but its important to say we went sledding in July

Paddle boating at the lake. I had to have the tricycle. I think we lasted about 20 minutes before Logan had had enough.  The idea of paddle boating is more fun than the actual paddle boating itself.

18 months

At 18 months, Logan is talking a lot.  His favorite new word is "tunnel," which he yells as we're driving down the road.  Tunnel, tunnel!  This either means we're in one, he sees one ahead, or he just wants to see one.  He has a liberal interpretation which includes driving under overpasses and low hanging trees.  He also uses "cookie" a lot--  his request for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. He definitely got our tastebuds. He's turned into a little climber and is always trying to get up on his little musical table, so he can see out the window, or on the kitchen chairs. We of course want him to love climbing so we don't really discourage it.  He's working on sending his first route in the barn.  He loves books, splashing in his pool, and being pulled around the yard in his wagon and bike.  He loves throwing things, which can be problematic... we're working on that. He's very observant, and usually sees animals in our yard before I do.  He loves animals-- Buddy especially-- and must ask me at least 10 times a day where Kenny and Buddy are.  He likes the other kids at daycare, and spends a lot of time talking about Tori and Devon.  He likes to play piano and guitar with daddy and cuddle with mama.

Logan Dancing

Mark's college friend Allison got married last weekend, so we headed out to Vail for the festivities.  Here's Logan busting a move on the dance floor.
Mark & Logan on the bridge outside the Beaver Creek chapel.
Me & Logan outside the Beaver Creek chapel.  We spent most of the ceremony out here... Logan doesn't do "sit down and be quiet" very well.

Mark was a hit with the kids.  He played tag with them outside during happy hour.  All the other moms were so jealous.
