Fall!

The weather has stayed hot this year, so fall snuck up on us. We went out to Kenosha Pass this weekend for our annual pilgrimage to see the fall colors (along with about a thousand other people). We were a little late, but there were still some leaves left. I tried to get a good one of Logan in the aspens, but he is very hard to take a picture of these days. He just wants to hold the camera, so he either looks like a zombie reaching for the camera, or he's crying because you won't give it to him. Mark got a few good ones anyway.

September visitors

August & September were busy months for visitors, including my high school best buddy Kara, my Aunt Susie, my Mom, and cousin Janet.

Kara was here for her friend Lexie's wedding, and we joined in the wedding weekend hike to Maxwell Falls. I didn't actually get a picture of Kara, but she took a couple of me & Logan:

Kara is a great guest because she plays with Logan, entertains us with stories of her travel adventures, and best of all, cooks for us. I took the opportunity to invite Ginny up for a brunch cooked by Kara. (Pretty smart of me I think to get someone else to fulfill my entertaining obligations.)

The following weekend, Aunt Susie & George came through town on their way to visit George's sister in Pueblo. We got to have breakfast together at Ginny's and they came by to see our houses, now that Kendall & I are all grown up and out on our own.

The next weekend, my Mom and her cousin Janet came out for my Mom's and Ginny's birthdays.  We don't often get to celebrate birthdays together, and it was fun to have everyone together.  Plus we got a lot of birthday cake.   Logan loved the extra playmates and still talks about Grandma and Janet.

Lily Lake

Mark had an injured finger all summer, so we've had a long break from climbing. We've got a few climbing  trips planned for the fall, so we decided to ease back into it with an easy day at Lily Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a really pretty setting, with nice weather, and we climbed a few fun easy routes.  Logan did fine-- played with his wagon and chased chipmunks-- but we only stayed a couple hours and had no agenda.  It'll be interesting to see how it goes on a full climbing day.
