Logan at Montessori

Logan just finished his first year of preschool.  He was in Ms. Kristin's class-- and will be there for two more years, since Montessori teaches in three year blocks.  He loves Ms. Kristin.  I do too.  She is one of those people who have truly found their calling, and what an important job to be shaping such malleable little minds. She even made me consider for a moment that perhaps I should be a preschool teacher... but I would never be able to do it.  Definitely takes a special kind of person! Every morning I drop Logan off in car line, and the four primary teachers take turns retrieving the kids from the cars.  He watches hopefully and if he gets Ms. Kristin he yells Yes! with a big fist pump. I found out recently that they do not put siblings together in the same class, and am sad that Amelie won't get to have her when she starts school in 2016, since Logan will still be in the class.  I'm sure the other teachers are good too... but have considered that perhaps Amelie should start a year later so she can have Ms. Kristin too.

Logan & Ms. Kristin

Every so often Ms. Kristin sends pictures from Logan's day at school. His favorite works are the Wanominos, which are blocks that you put in patterns following pattern cards, and the binomial and trinomial cube. I always loved the binomial/trinomial cube too. He also likes the big wooden continent puzzles.
Sewing cards. We have these at home (purchased for airplane flights, I heard they would be good entertainment) but he never uses them at home.

Working on his pouring skills in practical life

Logan working on parts of a volcano
Making a book about the parts of a leaf.  Apparently leaves have stipules, petioles, veins, and blades... who knew?
For the annual fundraiser, each class made a piece of artwork.  This is Logan's class' painting.  I would have loved to have it, but it sold for over $500!  They all did.  This painting said "To our children, we give two things, first their roots and then their wings"
