Spring Break Part 1- Moab

We're not actually taking a spring break. But we did get to go to Moab for the weekend. I think its been about 10 years since I've been there-- not sure how that happened. You kind of forget just how amazing all that red rock is. We drove in Friday evening through the Fisher Towers, and Mark gave us a tour of all the towers he'd climbed in his youth.

Ancient Art (this one's in a Citibank commercial). Let's pretend that's me on top (it's not):

The Titan:

The Cobra:

And a few more pictures because I just can't get enough of "super vivid" mode on the camera:

The next day we went to Arches National Park. This is my favorite arch. Its everybody else's favorite too, but we managed to get there before it was too crowded. Here's a family picture at Delicate Arch with the La Sals in the background:

Me & Logan at Delicate Arch.

We're in this one too-- under the arch on the right.

Anderew babysat for us so we could climb a little one pitch tower. Here's Logan at the base sporting his cool new helmet .

Logan is in super Mommy-mode these days and just screamed and screamed until he finally wore himself out and fell asleep in Andrew's arms. Andrew was happy.

Double Arch! Just can't get enough arches. Except that after this we had had enough, and we left.

Day #3 we went to Canyonlands & Gemini Bridges. Here's a view of (one more!) arch in Canyonlands. Through the arch you can see Washer Woman tower and Moses... Mark climbed those too.

Other than that, weekend highlights included Logan throwing up in the car twice (the first time he's ever done that... I guess its not such a good idea to feed him on those bumpy twisty roads) and the xylophone park in Moab where you can play 25 different xylophones. If Mark was writing this he could also tell you about the 23 different types of sandstone and how each one is amazing in its own special way, and also all about the microbiotic soil and how one step in the wrong spot destroys hundreds of years of microbiote effort, and probably about a bunch of other stuff. But instead you have me. So I leave you with one more very significant milestone: Logan is now a forward-facing rider! The new guidance says you're supposed to wait until they're 2 to turn them around. By day 3 and hour 8 or 10 in the car, 14.5 months seemed just right.

  1. I agree with you on the timing of turning your son around. Both of my boys got turned around on their first birthdays, it's just so much more enjoyable for them that way.
