Amelie- 11 months

At 11 months, Amelie has just learned to crawl.  She doesn't go very far yet-- just a few steps at a time-- but that's enough to get into a lot of trouble destroying train tracks and lego houses and the like.  She loves Logan and wants to be doing whatever he is doing at any moment, much to his consternation. She's also learned to pull herself up in her crib, and she is quite proud of herself.  Any time I go in there and find her standing, she has a big grin on her face.  She points to things she wants. Her words are Hi, Mama, Dada, the K sound for Kenny, TaTa for Tammy, and done (when she's done eating).

Bathtime

May round up

Here are some pictures of what we've been up to this month.

Mark & Logan climbed to the top of a little rock island in the middle of the creek on our hike near Lair of the Bear. These days Logan bikes our hikes while Amelie rides in the backpack and Mark & I walk.  It works out pretty well for the first half usually, while the way back often involves crying and yelling and bribing.   This day was no different.

Me & Amelie on our hike.  Amelie is a happy hiker.

Mark ordered a birdhouse kit from Home Depot for Logan & him to build together.

Applying the birdhouse glue.  I'll have to take a picture of the finished product.  It turned out very nicely.

For some reason I think these pictures are so funny.  Logan leaves half-eaten apples strewn around the house and Amelie considers them great prizes.  Here she is ready to attack.

Got it!

Horsing around with her brother.  I tried to take some cute brother-sister photos, but Logan looks like a crazy disheveled child raised by wolves in every one.

Three Sisters is one of our favorite hiking spots-- Logan does well on this hike because he can scramble up most of the way on rocks, which is more interesting than hiking up a trail, and then he can run down the trail.

Summit!

Mark celebrated his 37th birthday on May 5th with his favorite, ice cream cone cupcakes

Amelie practicing for her upcoming birthday

Logan always has the dirtiest face by the end of the day. I don't know where it all comes from.

Logan got Mark the world's smallest airplane kite for his birthday (carefully selected from the wide array of birthday gift options at the grocery store), and had a very hard time understanding that he had to wait for Mark to open it before he could play with it. He sprinted around the yard with glee trailing the unflyable kite when Mark finally opened it.

Mark stepped up his game this year and got artistic with his chocolate covered strawberries for Mother's Day. I was pretty impressed, I think they look professional.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!  Logan likes to take the first bite of all my food.  Just to make sure its okay before I taste it:)

Mother's Day visit to see Ginny. She and Amelie are still good buddies.

Logan likes going to see Ginny too, mainly because he knows there are always cookies there.  Ginny loves Logan of course, but I think she's a little terrified as he races around her glass coffee table and climbs her antique chairs.  Amelie is more her speed.
