January

We spent our January ice skating, cross country skiing, and hiking.

Skating at Evergreen Lake.  This is the only time we went to the lake. It has gotten super crowded, and with the warm weather it closed a lot this year.  We were lucky to find a little neighborhood pond through some friends so we could keep skating.

Family hike at Red Rocks.  I love having both Kenny and Andrew (and Nate and Maddie) here now.
A little Saturday march for women

Cross country skiing at Keystone Nordic Center.  We dropped Logan off for his free Epic Pass downhill lesson and the rest of us spent the day skiing and sledding at the Nordic Center.  It was much less crowded and we got to park right next to the trail... much more our speed.

Logan is 6!

At 6, Logan is sometimes sweet and cuddly and loves to be tickled, alternating with an affinity for dart guns, sword fights, and general boy-ness.  He is an excellent whistler and long ago surpassed my capabilities.  He makes an impressive array of battle sounds and vehicle noises when playing.  He likes coming up with new lego creations. He's writing a Minecraft book, and has watched all the Star Wars movies a million times over with Mark. His best bud is his cousin Axel. He says Tammy's house is his favorite place in the world. He loves Gwen, a 7 year old that he's grown up with at Tammy's. He was so excited when she was coming to his birthday party.  Beforehand he was mulling over whether he should tell her that he had a crush on her-- he decided I should tell her.  In the end he told her he was going to marry her some day over birthday cake.  Six has been a magic age for learning to do a lot of new things, like ice skating, skiing, swimming, reading, and writing.  Funny signs have started showing up around the house, mainly barring Amelie from various places or warning Mom not to throw away his stuff. (Who, me? Never. Except its my favorite thing to do.) He still loves making maps and doing math. He's learning division and fractions and begged for a math "homework" book (he doesn't have real homework). "Math is awesome! I'm so good at math!" He's just recently started getting into climbing.  On our trip to France, he professed his love for climbing and often said he wanted to sit next to or walk with Daddy because they needed to talk about climbing.  I wonder how long that will last.  The kid is toying with Mark's heart.

6!

Mark organized a Minecraft scavenger hunt for Logan's birthday.  Now everytime Axel comes over they try to recreate it.
